Teacher Union Bullies are at it again

Fellow American,
I hate to break the news to you, but the unions are at it again. And this time, they’re desperate.
Last week, Louisiana families were stunned by an unprecedented act of hardball intimidation from the Louisiana Association of Educators (LAE), a local teachers’ union.  Within days of the state announcing that more than 10,000 Louisiana families applied for vouchers in an effort to choose a better school for their children, the teachers’ union lawyer sent threatening letters directly to schools eligible to participate in the state’s voucher program.
We knew the union’s bullying tactics were only going to get worse, but threatening to sue schools because they’re helping disadvantaged kids get a decent education is outrageous. The unions are actually trying to break private schools financially – and they’re fighting to keep Louisiana childrentrapped in failing schools!
The union’s letter demands that participating private schools sign a statement ending their involvement in the voucher program or face a union lawsuit. These schools are a lifeline to thousands of low-income families across the state, and for parents, the voucher program offers hope for their children’s future. Without the program, their children will be forced to remain in failing, even unsafe schools, where they’re likely to fall further behind and become yet another heartbreaking statistic.
If these intimidation tactics win, the unions will have more leverage than ever to attack and threaten school choice supporters all across the country, including low-income parents who have no other option for their children. These unions will stop at nothing to put an end to parental choice in education. We need your help to stand up to these special interests and keep fighting for our children. Join the fight today!
The Alliance for School Choice is the nation’s voice for school choice.  We fight every single day to help parents all over America choose the school that works best for their children.  We’re fighting back against special interest groups that are more focused on protecting their own political power than actually helping kids get a quality education. Please consider contributing now to support our efforts to fight for these kids in Louisiana who urgently need our help!
Sincerely,
John Schilling
