Bolton: Administration's 'Passivity' Sends Signal, 'You Can Kill Americans With Impunity'

(CNSNews.com) - Two months after the terror attack in Benghazi, there's been "no retribution, no retaliation, no visible action by the United States against those who murdered four American citizens," and that sends a dangerous signal, former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton told Fox News on Thursday:

"Now, maybe there's something the administration has in the works, one of the rare national security secrets they've been able to keep. But the signal in the Middle East and beyond is, you can kill Americans with impunity. And that is a lesson, once learned, it's going to cause consequences that reverberate down the years."

Bolton said he expects a lengthy investigation into the attack in Benghazi as well as the administration's misleading public response to that attack.

"I think people are kidding themselves if they think this is a flash in the pan," Bolton told Fox News's Greta Van Susteren Thursday night. "There's just too much involved here, and the administration's passivity before, during and after the September the 11th attack, and frankly, the passivity that they've displayed once the Petraeus-Broadwell affair was uncovered, is just inexplicable."

Bolton says the important thing to remember is that Americans, both government officials and private citizens, "remain at risk" throughout the Middle East.

"And until we fully understand, as a nation, what happened on September the 11th, we can't possibly take adequate steps or formulate policies to protect Americans who might be at risk."

"I have never seen this as political," Bolton continued. "But the notion that you can passively wait for an internal State Department review board or passively wait for an investigation that the CIA director may be compromised to play out over weeks and months -- it just doesn't hold water.

"These are issues that effective leadership, real management in the executive branch, addresses immediately to prevent further tragedies or further loss of classified information."

Democrat Congressman's Son Resigns After Talking to Undercover Reporter

(CNSNews.com) - One day after Rep. Jim Moran, a Virginia Democrat, asked Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate voter-registration fraud involving a company linked to Republicans -- the congressman's own son has been caught in a vote-fraud related scandal.
Patrick Moran resigned from  his father's campaign Wednesday, after an undercover video showed him talking with an undercover reporter after the reporter approached him in a public place to talk bout the reporter's alleged plan to cast ballots in the names of 100 voters who are registered to vote but rarely do so.
Project Veritas, an organization led by political activist James O'Keefe, released a video that shows the congressman's son engaging a discussion about forging utility bills, which can be used as voter identification at the polls in Virginia. They'd "have to look legit," Patrick tells the undercover reporter. He also suggests that the reporter pose as a pollster and call the people to see if they plan on voting.
The undercover video was shot on Oct. 8 and released on the WND website Wednesday.
Rep. Moran's campaign office called the incident involving Patrick an error in judgment, the Associated Press reported.
On Tuesday, three Democratic congressmen -- Rep. Moran among them --asked the Justice Department to conduct a multi-state investigation of voter registration fraud connected to Strategic Allied Consulting and its subsidiary Pinpoint.
Their letter to Attorney General Holder follows voter fraud allegations in three states and the October 18 arrest of Pinpoint employee Colin Small in Harrisonburg, Virginia on 13 counts of voter registration fraud.
“The number of allegations in a multitude of locations would suggest something more than the isolated acts of 'a few bad apples,'" the lawmakers wrote. “We respectfully request the Justice Department to assume the responsibility and conduct its own investigation, given the mounting evidence that one company may have been engaged in a similar multi-state effort to commit voter registration fraud.”
Strategic Allied Consulting, currently under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, is facing more than 200 allegations of voter registration fraud, including the registration of dead people.
The Republican National Committee and five state committees have severed their relationship with Strategic Allied Consulting, but the lawmakers expressed concern that "the alleged illegal practices may be continuing under its subsidiary Pinpoint,” which operates throughout Virginia.
