Did Obama Find A Judas At His Last Supper?
Two days ago, at the Jefferson Hotel in Washington, D.C., the Democrat messiah, Barack Obama, broke political bread with twelve carefully selected Republican apostles. Progressive scribes in the Obama biased media are busy framing this historic supper invitation as a good faith attempt to resurrect the spirit of bipartisanship the Republicans have abandoned since Obama’s 2012 victory. Personally, I believe Obama was shopping for his Judas.
Since the his first election, President Obama has been running around the country vilifying Republican obstructionism, polarizing the American people and blaming prior Republican administration policies for his failing liberal agenda. Last night, while 12 Republican Senators participated in Obama’s dinner summit, White House operatives continued their campaign to manipulate public opinion, destroy the conservative ideology, and generally, characterize any opposing political views as bigoted and anti-American. Now Washington expects Americans to believe that Obama wants to negotiate a grand bi-partisan bargain, a new compromise encompassing deficit/debt reduction, and entitlement and tax reform designed to lower spending and heal the nation. So why were Rand Paul, Ted Cruz or even Marco Rubio not invited?
Obama wants nothing more than his Immigration reform, his increased tax revenue, and higher budgets to service his constituency.
Obama is negotiating a grand bargain all right, but it has nothing to do with the fiscal health of our Republic. It has everything to do with bait and switch and he needs a Republican charlatan to sell it. The kind of Senator who understands the practicality of today’s political backroom deals and the forgiving nature of homegrown constituents when the spending cuts find their way to less understanding politicians red states.
Why else would he have reached out to the likes of Lindsay Graham of S. Carolina, John McCain of Arizona, and Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, representatives of three Defense Department dependent states economies?
All three Senators—Graham, McCain, and Chambliss—have much in common:
The retirement industry is a top five contributor to all their respective campaign funds, their families are imbedded in Washington lobby firms, they have shown a historic predisposition to compromise on social issues like gay rights, gun control and immigration reform, and unemployment rates in their states are at or above Obama’s national unemployment numbers. Unemployment in South Carolina is 8.6%, Arizona 7.9% and Georgia is at 8.7% levels.
Reducing spending is not in Obama’s genes, it is purely a momentary illusion, and he only wants one of these tired incumbents to help him push something through the Senate that will eventually devastate less important House Republican players forced to vote on another bad Obama idea. He is dangling bait to desperate men and one of them will eventually bite. My money is on Graham. Perhaps the South Carolina Defense establishment will not suffer any sharp cuts after all.
Just today, the bastions of Republican conservatism, McCain and Graham unleashed their disdain for conservative young gun Senator Rand Paul for his filibuster that brought attention to Obama DOJ drone strike policy. Recently, McCain and Graham have been outspoken critics of Senator Ted Cruz’s patriotic, sensible examination of Obama cabinet appointees while they feigned indignation about the Benghazi scandal and four years of failed Obama foreign policy, McCain and Graham enabled.
McCain and Graham are politicians hungry for a deal and they do not see Obama coming. If any Republican invited to this dinner believes that Barack Obama has seen the error of his polarizing ways, I would advise a visit to Obama’s website for “Organizing for Action.” Regardless of Obama’s momentary civility, the President and his political machine are moving full steam ahead with fundraising and political activism solely designed to destroy the Republican majority in the House in 2014.
I do not think Obama and liberals are looking for a maverick. I think they just need a Judas.
