John Carey - Bill Whittle: A New Beginning

Bill Whittle: A New Beginning

I spent most of the day going over the election results, trying to piece together in my mind where it went south.  Was it really Hurricane Sandy? Did Mitt Romney run a bad campaign?  Did we overestimate conservative enthusiasm?  Nothing was making sense.  i went into election day feeling confident and good about where we stood.  I thought Romney made the case against Obama’s record.  I thought there is no way the American people are going to reelect a President who presides over a terrible economy and hasn’t presented his own agenda for the next four years, but that’s exactly what Americans did.  It simply stunned me.  So I spent most of the day listening to the pundits playing Monday morning quarterback telling their listeners where they thought Romney went wrong.  I heard excuses from picking Paul Ryan to not bringing up Benghazi during the final debate.  I heard Romney wasn’t conservative enough to he was too far to the right.  Yesterday they were all on the Romney bandwagon.  Today they all had opinions as to why things went terribly wrong.
What really concerns me is that Romney didn’t even get as many votes as McCain did in 2008.  I mean who was really charged up for McCain in 2008.  He ran an absolute terrible campaign and yet garnered more votes than Romney.  Where were all the enthusiastic conservatives that wanted to stop Obamacare? Nothing was adding up to me.  Whatever the answer is the one thing we conservatives must come to terms with is America has changed.  When Allen West loses and Alan Grayson wins something is seriously wrong in America.  Why do we continue to reelect the same people back into office that helped create this mess and punish the people who want to fix it.  Are we that shallow of a people? Or is it that the uninformed voter is now the new voting block?  No matter we must get past this loss and start thinking outside of the box.  Because only by thinking outside of the box will we solve this puzzle.  Bill Whittle proposes a plan that I believe needs to be examined with a critical eye.  It’s about an hour and half long but worth the watch.
I still believe that conservatism is the answer that will save America.  The problem is most of America doesn’t agree.  So how do we make the case?  Maybe we don’t waste the time and energy anymore trying to make the case and do as Bill Whittle suggest and create private institutions that mirror the institutions that made America great.  Because clearly the institutions we have now have been corrupted by non-virtuous leftists with a main goal to destroy virtue in America.  Our founders said that the only way this Constitutional Republic works is with a moral people.  Think about that.
Liberty forever, freedom for all!
