The Senate passed legislation this week that extends middle class tax cuts for 98% of Americans and 97% of small businesses. The legislation rejects the GOP's push to protect tax cuts for the wealthiest 2%. It's time the House acts so that 114 million American families won't see a tax increase. We must pass legislation that strengthens the middle class, encourages fairness, protects homeowners and enhances our communities. My Democratic colleagues and I on the Ways and Means Committee introduced The American Advanced Energy Manufacturing Jobs Act of 2012 (H.R. 6182) and The Build America Bond Extension Act (H.R. 747) which provide tax credits and increase job growth. We will also introduce legislation identical to the Senate middle class tax cut bill that gives 100% of Americans a tax cut. Republicans should stop wasting taxpayer dollars on pointless bills. They must keep Congress in session, and get the job done for the middle class.
